Day 2 - Niagara Falls excursion
We travel around Lake Ontario to the magnifi cent sight of NiagaraFalls. There is plenty of time to take it all in from the lovelypark-like setting on the Canadian side. Then we see the falls upclose aboard the unforgettable Maid of the Mist cruise. Followingthe dramatic cataract along the scenic Niagara Peninsula, we visitthe historic village of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the colonial capitalof Upper Canada. This evening join your fellow traveling companionsfor dinner at the hotel. (Full breakfast / Dinner)
Day 3 - Toronto - Kingston
We start the day with an orientation tour of Toronto, viewingQueen''s Park, the busy entertainment district, stately UniversityAvenue and the CN Tower. Heading north, we follow the shores ofLake Ontario through the Ontario countryside to the historic townof Kingston. Here, we visit Old Fort Henry, a 19th century Britishmilitary fortress, and learn about British garrison life during theyear of Canada''s confederation. Day 4 - Kingston - Upper Canada Village - Montreal
We visit Upper Canada Village, a recreated 1860''s rural communitywhere citizens take us back in time. We then travel to Montreal,the cultural capital of French Canada and the largestFrench-speaking city outside France. Here our local guideintroduces us to the historic sites of Montreal includingspectacular Notre-Dame Basilica and the modern contrasts ofbustling downtown. Day 5 - Montreal - Charlevoix region (2 nights)
Leaving the city behind, we travel northeast along the St. LawrenceRiver for a twonight stay at the magnificent Fairmont Le ManoirRichelieu, majestically situated between the mountains and the seain the heart of the Charlevoix region. Rich in tradition andhistory, this beautiful resort offers the charms of the countrysidewhile maintaining the sophistication of a world-classestablishment. This evening, we enjoy dinner at one of the resort''sfine restaurants. After dinner, perhaps try your luck at theresort''s cozy Casino de Charlevoix. Day 6 - Charlevoix region at leisure
Enjoy a full day at leisure to pursue your own interests.Experience the area''s exceptional natural sights and uniqueattractions. Perhaps explore the many local workshops, boutiques,studios and art galleries, go whale watching through one of theworld''s most scenic marine mammal observation areas, or simplyrelax at the resort, play golf or tennis, take a dip in the indooror outdoor all-season pools, or treat yourself at the spa. Day 7 - Charlevoix region - Baie-St-Paul - Quebec City (2 nights)
Our first stop today is at the picturesque village ofBaie-Saint-Paul, where there is time to stroll the streets linedwith beautiful ancestral homes, boutiques and art galleries. Nextwe visit the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, located within oneof the most visited shrines in North America. We then stop at thebeautiful Montmorency Falls, which at 275 feet are nearly 100 feettaller than those at Niagara, before entering Quebec City, a UNESCOWorld Heritage Site. Founded as a trading post at a narrowing ofthe St. Lawrence River, the walled city quickly grew on the cliffsoverlooking the river. Day 8 - Quebec City sightseeing & at leisure
We are joined by a local guide and start our sightseeing tour ofQuebec City, exploring the narrow streets of the Old Town and thePlains of Abraham, site of a major colonial battle between theBritish and French. The rest of the day is at leisure to do as youplease. Perhaps browse the shops and galleries, visit a museum, orsimply sit at a sidewalk cafe and relax watching the world go by.(Full breakfast)
Day 9 - Quebec City - Ottawa
We travel back into Ontario to Ottawa, Canada''s beautiful capitalcity. On arrival, we are taken on an orientation tour of the city,viewing the stately buildings of Parliament Hill, Rideau Hall, theresidence of the Governor General of Canada, the beautiful downtownparks and Rideau Canal, filled with millions of tulips in May.
