Day 2: ARRIVE ROME (2 NIGHTS)
Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City! Relax after your journey or take a leisurely stroll through ancient streets. This evening, join your Travel Director and travelling companions for a Welcome Reception and evening orientation drive to see St. Peter's Basilica. This is the perfect introduction to the sights which await you!
Day 3: ROME SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Your expert Local Guide takes you on a guided visit to St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, home of Michelangelo’s famous Pietà . Visit the Sistine Chapel with your Local Guide and admire the magnificent painted ceiling by Michelangelo. Your sightseeing tour continues across the Tiber to ancient Rome where you view the Forum. Visit the mighty Colosseum, site of public events, and see the Circus Maximus. Spend the rest of the day seeing the sights of your choice. Shop for souvenirs or relax and watch the world go by.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 4: ROME - VENICE
Follow the valley of the River Tiber north into Umbria and pass the impressive hilltop towns of Orte and Orvieto. Through Tuscan landscapes and terraced olive groves, over the Apennine hills, past Bologna and the across Veneto plains you arrive at your hotel in Venice. Enjoy dining at your hotel this evening.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 5: VENICE SIGHTSEEING - LAKE GARDA
Savour the sights and sounds of this floating Byzantine city on your included canal cruise by private launch to St. Mark's Square. View the Bridge of Sighs and the ornate Doge’s Palace. Visit a glass-blowing workshop, with free time afterwards to explore on your own. Later, cross the Veneto to the Italian Lake District where you dine tonight.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6: LAKE GARDA - FLORENCE
Enjoy stunning views of Lake Garda this morning! Perhaps take the opportunity to join a boat ride across its waters. Continuing to Florence, this evening enjoy a memorable Tuscan Be My Guest dining experience.(Buffet Breakfast / Be My Guest dinner)
Day 7: FLORENCE - ROME
In Florence, the city’s rich medieval and Renaissance history is brought to life by your expert Local Guide. See Piazza Signoria, with its impressive sculptures and imposing palazzi. View the multi-coloured marble Duomo and the famous Baptistery with bronze doors. View the Ponte Vecchio, a spectacular feat of engineering dating from the Middle Ages. Travelling south, the Tuscan landscape − characterised by rolling hills and picturesque olive groves − is breathtaking. Through Umbria’s shady valleys with olive and cypress trees you reach the valley of the Tiber River, which leads you back to Rome. Spend leisure time relaxing or exploring.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 8: ROME - USA

"I loved this tour. We went at the end of May and it was perfect, though short. Very faced pace,especially if you do the options, which we did. Lots of nice people on the tour from the US, Australia, & Argentina. We had a great tour guide, Chris, who was extremely knowledgeable and funny. The hotels were nice, although I can't really get used to the twin beds. The food was good, not great. But when you have to serve 50 people all at once, I guess that's how it is. I hope to take a longer tour of soutern Italy in the next year or two."

"We had a great trip to Italy. The tour was a bit busier than we expected - getting up at 6 am was tiring so I will look for a tour that spends more time in each city next time around. We were a little stressed on the flight as we didn't realize we didn't have any assigned seats, so alwys check with your travel agent. Fortunately, it all worked out. Great tour guides. I will travel with Trafalgar again."
